How to use this calculator
- Enter the known values in the units shown. Results update as you type.
- Where results are editable, change one to solve backwards. Lock a value to hold it fixed.
- Use the worked example to check the method. Reset restores the starting fields.

Formula and method
At the middle assumption of 20 Wh per mile, 500 Wh supports 25 miles, or 40.2336 km, before any reserve allowance.
Estimated distance = available battery energy / assumed energy per distance
Worked example
Enter these known values and leave the other values blank.
- Available battery energy
- 500 Wh
- Assumed consumption
- 20 Wh per mile
- Estimated distance before reserve
- 40.2 km
Assumptions and limitations
- The three captured scenarios correspond to 14, 20 and 26 Wh per mile. They are fixed modeling assumptions rather than measurements of your bicycle.
- Enter energy available for the modeled trip. Nominal battery capacity can exceed usable energy; subtract any reserve before entering it.
- Terrain, wind, temperature, load, assistance, speed and battery condition can change actual consumption. This calculation does not predict those factors.
- Range scales linearly with entered available energy at the selected fixed rate. No charging stop, degradation or efficiency correction is added automatically.
Common questions
Are these manufacturer range ratings?
No. They are three illustrative consumption rates. Use measured consumption for route-specific planning with a separate energy-per-distance calculation.
References
Bookify converts the 14, 20 and 26 Wh-per-mile scenarios with the exact international mile instead of the rounded captured conversion.
