How to use this calculator
- Enter the known values in the units shown. Results update as you type.
- Where results are editable, change one to solve backwards. Lock a value to hold it fixed.
- Use the worked example to check the method. Reset restores the starting fields.

Formula and method
A 140-stitch design at 14 stitches per inch is ten inches wide; one-inch borders make a twelve-inch fabric cut.
Stitched size = stitch count / stitches per unit; fabric size = stitched size + two borders

Assumptions and limitations
- Fabric count is holes or threads per displayed length; the stitching-over control divides that count. Needle and strand suggestions are a captured gauge table, not a promise of fit for every thread or fabric. Border is added on both sides.
Common questions
What assumptions affect this result?
Fabric count is holes or threads per displayed length; the stitching-over control divides that count. Needle and strand suggestions are a captured gauge table, not a promise of fit for every thread or fabric. Border is added on both sides.
Can I solve for a missing value?
Clear the missing field and enter compatible known values in the displayed units. Supported inverse branches remain available; rounding and one-way outputs keep their original direction.
