Assumptions and limitations

  • Enter the scorecard’s runs charged to the bowler and wickets credited to that bowler for the same period.
  • Run and wicket totals are whole numbers. Zero conceded runs is valid, but at least one credited wicket is required.
  • The arithmetic supports match, season or career totals without arbitrary historical record limits.
  • Displayed bands describe the ratio only. They do not establish records or a player’s quality across formats, eras and conditions. A zero average cannot identify an unknown wicket count from zero runs.

Common questions

Is this bowling strike rate?

No. Bowling average uses runs per wicket; bowling strike rate uses balls per wicket.

References

Bookify accepts zero conceded runs, removes arbitrary historical total limits, and requires a nonnegative bowling average.
