How to use this calculator
- Enter the known values in the units shown. Results update as you type.
- Where results are editable, change one to solve backwards. Lock a value to hold it fixed.
- Use the worked example to check the method. Reset restores the starting fields.
Use the result with context
Results are estimates for planning and education. Confirm rates, taxes, fees, and legal requirements with the relevant institution or a qualified professional before making a financial decision.
Formula and method
For 260 weekdays less 20 holidays, 10 sick days and 30 admin days, 200 billable days remain. A 70000 income target plus 10000 costs needs 400 per day or 50 per hour for eight-hour days.
Billable days = weekdays − holiday − sick − admin; daily rate = (target + costs)/billable days; hourly = daily/hours.

Assumptions and limitations
- Billable days must be positive. Holidays, sickness and administration days are nonoverlapping whole-day estimates.
- Project count is a fractional workload estimate, not a rounded contract count. Actual utilization, payment delays and sales tax are omitted.
- Target income and costs must cover the same annual period. Add any intended tax allowance yourself.
- Amounts use a single consistent currency. Currency selector conversion factors are a captured static snapshot; they are not current FX quotes.
- Clear the unknown field before solving an inverse. Locks keep known values fixed; contradictory locked values require correction.
- Domain review limits calculations to the documented finite scenario; original captured equations, inverses and unit options are retained.
Common questions
How should I interpret the example?
For 260 weekdays less 20 holidays, 10 sick days and 30 admin days, 200 billable days remain. A 70000 income target plus 10000 costs needs 400 per day or 50 per hour for eight-hour days.
References
Require the documented finite model domain. Billable days must be positive. Daily working time must be greater than zero and at most 24 hours. Average project value must be positive.
