Formula and method
A price of 1500, cash of 200 and trade-in of 100 at zero trade-in tax finance 1200. At 12% annual interest for one month, payment is 1212 and interest is 12.
Loan = price − cash − trade-in(1 − tax); payment = loan × r/[1 − (1+r)^−months], r = annual rate/12.

Assumptions and limitations
- The tax control adjusts only the trade-in contribution; it does not add a general sales tax on the car price.
- Fixed nominal annual interest and monthly payments are assumed. Fees, balloon payments and insurance are excluded. The captured formula requires positive interest and a whole positive monthly term.
- Enter all monetary amounts in a single currency. Retained currency conversion factors are a captured static snapshot, not live exchange rates.
- Clear a known field before solving for it. Locks retain chosen inputs; inconsistent locked values need correction. Reset restores the captured defaults.
Common questions
What does the worked example show?

References
Use the documented finite scenario domain. interest rate must be positive. loan amount must be positive. Use a positive whole number of monthly payments. Use a percentage between zero and 100. Integer membership is checked with isInteger, so ordinary, tiny and large fractional counts are rejected even when tolerant floor equality would pass.
