Timbre Comparison Tool
Compare the tone and sound level of two recordings. View matching charts and download their measured differences.
How can I compare the timbre of two recordings?
Load two clips and analyse them with identical sample rate, window, and feature definitions. Compare their centroid, rolloff, flatness, zero-crossing rate, and amplitude. Overlaid spectra show differences in frequency balance, while time plots show changes within each sound.
Your two sounds
On your deviceAnalysis downmixes to mono at 22,050 Hz. RMS and peak use digital full scale. Spectral measures use Hann-windowed 2,048-sample frames; these describe the signal, not a calibrated sound-pressure level.

This tool is free with no account required. The work happens in your browser. Your input and files are not sent to a processing server.
What are the limits and details?
These are descriptive feature comparisons, not a perceptual similarity or identity score. Clips begin at their own time zero without automatic alignment. Each spectrum is normalized to its own strongest bin, so spectral shape does not indicate equal loudness.
Limits: two recordings, each up to two minutes and 16 MB. Analysis downmixes to mono at 22,050 Hz and uses at most 2,000 frames per clip.
