Formula and method
A solid timber cube with 0.3048-meter sides occupies one cubic foot. At a custom density of 16 lb/ft³, one piece has a mass of 7.25747792 kg; two pieces have a combined mass of 14.51495584 kg.
Piece volume = length × width × thickness; piece mass = volume × density; total mass = piece mass × quantity

Assumptions and limitations
- All pieces share dimensions and density. Quantity scales the result directly; fractional entries represent equivalent portions of a piece.
- Dimensions, density and quantity must be positive. The model reports mass; it does not assess lifting or load limits.
Common questions
Which wood density should I use?
Species presets are approximate values. Moisture, treatment and natural variation affect density. Choose the custom option to enter a measured or supplier density for the timber's current condition. Check the density unit beside the field.
Should I enter nominal board dimensions?
Use actual measured dimensions. Nominal trade sizes can differ from finished dimensions. The model treats each piece as a solid rectangular prism and does not subtract notches, holes or defects, or determine structural capacity.

Bookify uses exact customary mass and volume definitions for density units, replacing rounded factors in the reference. Bookify replaces the captured rounded US gallon with the exact 3.785411784-liter definition.
