Formula and method

A flat rectangle 10 m by 20 m has an area of 200 m². A supplied price of 50 per m² gives a total of 10,000. Area and price-denominator units can be changed independently.

Area = length × width; total = area × unit price, using matching area units internally

Assumptions and limitations

  • Models a flat rectangle: area equals length times width. For an irregular parcel, use an independently established area instead of treating two boundary lengths as a rectangle.
  • Dimensions, area and prices must be positive. Total price equals the supplied unit price times area; it does not estimate market value, taxes, closing costs or buildable area.
  • Uses the international foot and acre, with one acre equal to 43,560 square feet. Area conversion does not determine a parcel’s shape or legal boundaries.
  • Where offered, the soccer-field scale is fixed at 105 m × 68 m, or 7,140 m². Actual sports-field dimensions vary.
  • The optional land-cent unit is one hundredth of an international acre. Confirm the unit convention used in an existing land record.

Common questions

Does changing the area unit change the total price?

No. A unit change preserves the underlying area or unit price. Changing the numeric measurement or numeric price changes the total.

What is a cent in the area selector?

It is a land-area unit equal here to one hundredth of an international acre, or 435.6 square feet. It has no relationship to the currency cent.

References

The international acre is exactly 43560 square international feet; Bookify replaces the rounded captured area factor. The land cent uses one hundredth of the exact international acre, replacing the captured approximate reciprocal factor.
