Tell us about the trip
Use the full drive there and back. A map app can give you both numbers.
Put a value on your time
Travel and carrying equipment are still work, even when no massage is happening.
Add the booking
This tells us whether the visit is worth the total time it takes.
Check the whole booking, not just the drive
The fee matters, but the full visit still needs to pay for every minute away from your base.
Service revenue plus the fee, minus vehicle, parking, and toll costs. Other overhead is not included.
Based on 1h 55m of massage, driving, setup, and cleanup.
Three simple travel zones
Each fee uses the outer edge of the zone, so you do not undercharge on the longest trip in that band.
| Zone | One-way radius | Est. round trip | Travel fee |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 Zone 1 | 0–5 km | 10 km · about 18 min | CA$50per address |
| 2 Zone 2 | 5–10 km | 20 km · about 35 min | CA$75per address |
| 3 Zone 3 | 10–15 km | 30 km · about 53 min | CA$100per address |
| + Beyond | Over 15 km | Confirm the route first | Custom quotebefore booking |
How zones are estimated: The calculator uses your trip’s minutes per kilometre, your CA$0.70/km vehicle cost, your setup time, and the parking or toll amount entered above. The radius is one-way from your home or business base.
Three honest ways to price mobile travel
The total to recover stays similar. What changes is how simple the price feels to you and your clients.
One fee per visit
CA$75 per addressBest when parking, setup, and carrying equipment are meaningful costs, or when several clients share one trip.
Rate by distance
CA$3.75 per kilometreBest when visit distances vary a lot and most costs rise with the route. State whether you charge the round trip.
Higher mobile rate
+CA$75 per clientBest for a compact service area when you want one all-in price. Avoid multiplying a shared trip fee unfairly for large groups.
What your travel fee pays for
- 1
Pay the car
Round-trip distance × your real vehicle cost, plus parking and tolls.
- 2
Pay your time
Driving, setup, and cleanup minutes × your hourly income goal.
- 3
Use an easy number
The exact total rounds up to the nearest CA$5 so it is simple to quote and collect.
Keep your policy simple and fair
Charge once per address
When several people book together, do not multiply a fee that pays for one shared drive. You can split it between clients if they ask.
Measure from one clear base
Use your clinic, home office, or a named neighbourhood. Put the one-way radius and the fee on your booking page.
Separate surprise costs
If downtown parking, ferries, or tolls vary widely, say they are added at cost instead of hiding a large average in every zone.
Protect rush hour
Use realistic travel time. For congested areas, offer fixed appointment windows or quote the route before confirming.
Mobile massage travel-fee FAQ
Should I charge for travel time as well as mileage?
Usually, yes. Mileage or vehicle cost pays for operating the car; it does not pay for the time you cannot use for another appointment. This calculator includes both so the visit can still meet your hourly goal.
Should the fee be one-way or round-trip?
Base the cost on the round trip because you must return to your home, clinic, or next starting point. State the client-facing price as one fee per visit so the policy stays easy to understand.
What should my minimum mobile booking be?
Use the minimum appointment value shown above for the clients and service length entered. If you do not want a separate travel fee, use the suggested minimum number of clients only when your base service price already meets your hourly goal.
Do I charge every client in a group?
Charge the journey once. You can put the fee on the organizer’s invoice or split it evenly, but multiplying the full fee by every person over-recovers one shared trip.
Can other mobile professionals use this?
Yes. The same calculation works for mobile estheticians, hair and makeup artists, pet groomers, personal trainers, photographers, tutors, and home-visit clinicians. Rename “service” and use your own setup time and hourly goal.
Is this a tax mileage rate?
No. This is a pricing tool, not tax advice. Enter the vehicle cost you want your client pricing to recover, and keep tax-deduction calculations separate according to the rules where you live.
