How can I measure a shape on a map?

Draw points, lines and closed polygons or open GeoJSON. Review each feature’s distance, area and centroid, choose a buffer distance and inspect the resulting shapes. Download measurement tables and buffer GeoJSON. Calculations use spherical Earth distances and areas; centroids are coordinate means.

The local background has country outlines, without street detail. Map segments are drawn in longitude/latitude space; routes crossing ±180° can appear across the map. Measurement calculations follow spherical geometry. Save your dataset before leaving.

Is this tool free, and are my files uploaded?

This tool is free with no account required. The work happens in your browser. Your input and files are not sent to a processing server.

What are the limits and details?

All processing stays on this device. The bundled country outlines are a small-scale reference with no street detail. Coordinates use longitude, latitude order. Local files preserve your work; automatic cloud storage is not included.

Limits: 2,000 features, 40,000 coordinates, 100 distinct attribute fields and 5 MB of GeoJSON. Conversions run in a cancellable browser worker.
