Formula and method

With 12 kills, 6 assists and 4 deaths, K/D is 3 and KDA is 4.5 under the (kills + assists) / deaths convention.

K/D = kills / deaths; KDA = (kills + assists) / deaths

Assumptions and limitations

  • Counts are nonnegative whole numbers, and deaths must be positive for these finite ratios. Zero kills and assists are supported.
  • KDA here means (kills + assists) / deaths. Games may use different assist weights or alternative zero-death conventions.
  • The calculator does not replace a zero death count with one. With zero deaths, these divisions do not define a finite ratio.
  • When combining matches, sum the underlying counts first. An unweighted average of per-match ratios is generally different from the overall ratio.

Common questions

Why does zero deaths show an error?

A finite kills-per-death ratio requires a positive denominator. Some games display a special value or use a different convention; this model does not invent one.

Can assists make KDA larger than K/D?

Yes. With the same positive death count, adding nonnegative assists can only keep KDA the same or increase it.

References

Bookify requires whole match counts and a positive death count for finite K/D and KDA ratios.
